Frequently asked questions
What is a notary public?
A person appointed be a state official to serve the public as a disinterested, impartial witness, to take acknowledgments, administer oaths and affirmations, and to perform such other acts as are allowed or required by law.
What is an acknowledgment or a jurat anyway?
Acknowledgement: The purpose of an acknowledgment is for a signer, whose identity has been verified, to declare or "acknowledge" to a Notary or notarial officer that he or she has willingly signed a document.
Jurat: The purpose of a jurat is for a signer, whose identity has been verified, to swear or affirm that the contents of a document are true to a Notary or notarial officer. This is sometimes called an "affidavit" or a "verification on oath or affirmation."
What is the difference between an oath and an affirmation?
Oath: An oath is a solemn, spoken pledge to a Supreme Being.
Example: "I solemnly swear that the statements in this document are true to the best of my knowledge and belief, so help me God."
Affirmation: An affirmation is a solemn, spoken pledge on one's own personal honor with no reference to a Supreme Being.
Example: "I solemnly affirm that the statements in this document are true to the best of my knowledge and belief."
Where is your office?
Simple answer: I do not have one. I am a fully mobile Notary Public and do not maintain a physical office. Appointments are scheduled at a place convenient for you (your home, office, a coffee shop, etc.) The location is set at the time the appointment is scheduled and determines any additional mileage charges.
Do you make appointments outside of normal business hours?
Yes, all notarizations are by appointment only and subject to availability.
What payments do you accept?
I accept Cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover
